Identification not yet complete. Ambrose Moore was initially a silk manufacturer in Wilson, Moore & Co (q.v.).
Ambrose Moore was the son of Ambrose Moore and Ann Wilson, sister of Thomas Wilson (1760-1829) of Jeffrey Square and Stephen Wilson (1761-1814). He was therefore the cousin of Melvil Wilson (q.v.) and Fletcher Wilson (q.v.).
An Ambrose Moore was described as Director of the London Joint Stock Bank in an advertisement for The English, Scottish & Australian Chartered Bank to be incorporated by Royal Charter in 1853. The other directors included Philip P Blyth of Blyth Brothers.
A Chancery action of Melvil Wilson and Ambose Moore against Charles Louis Alexander Count de Polignac was cited in a call for creditors of John Morley in 1858.
Ambrose Moore in 1841 aged 52 silk manufacturer was living at Endsleigh Street St Pancras with wife Harriet and children Harriet 10 Eleanor 8 John 5 and Emily 3; in 1851 aged 62 'Banker' living at Endsleigh Street with wife Harriet and children Eleanor 18 Jon 15 Emily 13 Edith 6 Adeline 3; in 1861 aged 72 he was described as 'retired manufacturer'; in 1871 he was at St Ann's House in Wandsworth born Kingsland Middlesex aged 82 'landowner' with Eleanor aged 38. Will of Ambrose Moore of St Ann's House Wandsworth who died 10/02/1873 proved 07/07/1873 effects under £5000: one of his executors was a silk manufacturer in Derby.
