David Cohen

Claimant or beneficiary

Partner with Henry Hymen Cohen (q.v.) in London and Jamaica, and with him awarded part of the compensation for the enslaved people on Wisbeach in Clarendon and Mount Nebo in St Ann. Possibly also the same man as the David Cohen awarded compensation under two separate awards in Kingston Jamaica. It is not clear whether he was resident in London or Kingston Jamaica at the time of compensation. He is shown as of Lime Street, merchant, and as co-trustee with Henry Hymen Cohen of Richard and Elizabeth Grant, in 1843 under Clarendon no. 110 for Wisbeach. He was almost certainly the brother of Henry Hymen Cohen, the two men sons of Hymen Cohen (q.v.)

T71/859 Clarendon claim no. 110; T71/857 St Ann claim no. 596A & B; Kingston claim nos. 2155 and 2464; T71/1378 Special awards in trust Clarendon no. 110D dated 25/10/1843.
