Biography

Son of Moses Cohen (1734-1831), born 1761 Jamaica, died 27/02/1845, married Zepporah Isaacs (1769-05/01/1848) abt 06/1790 London; child, David Hyman Cohen born c. 1805 died 28/04/1877.

  1. Will of Hymen Cohen of [Mansell Street] St Mary Whitechapel [made in 1834] proved 09/04/1845. He left his freehold house in Mansell Street to his wife Ziporah for life together with an annuity of £400 p.a. He left £5000 each in trust for his four unmarried daughters and another £5000 to his son David. He left his estates in Jamaica including the 'slaves' attached to them in trust to be sold (with the exception of Berlin and Albion); he left his residuary estate between his eight children.
