His co-claimants were Colin Dunlop Donald and James Andrew Anderson (both q.v.), merchants in Glasgow, which suggests a Glasgow link for Andrew Bannatyne as well, and raises the possibility he was the Andrew Bannatyne of A. and D. Bannatyne, writers to the signet, who acted for J., T. & A. Douglas on a claim in British Guiana.
