T71/873: claim by Thomas Edward Symonds, of Southampton (Hampshire), as executor and devisee in trust of Wm. Reynolds. Counterclaim by Samuel Boddington and Richard Davis, as mortgagees for £7,728 11s 1d from 9th April 1814.

B.W. Higman Plantation Jamaica 1750-1850: capital and control in a colonial economy (Mona, Jamaica, University of West Indies Press, 2005) pp. 66-7 and p. 85: Wm. Reynolds had been an attorney in Trelawney. He died in 1833, having been the 'proprietor' of Catherine Mount.

Joseph Sturge and Thomas Harvey, The West Indies in 1837 (London, Hamilton, Adams, & Co., 1838) p. liv: the authors say of the estate - 'In the short days, the overseer used to say the apprentices did not work nine hours, and stopped a little of their time; now in the long days, they are scarcely ever allowed to leave work until dusk....The Magistrate won't hear what they have to say; the busha speaks to him first'.  No ownership information is given.
