Not listed in Parliamentary Papers. Claim as executor for Benjamin Gumbs senior in right of his wife Mary and on behalf Mary, Benjamin and Samuel H. Gumbs and Maria Louisa Hodge, owners.

Contest not with creditor but with Benjamin Gumbs for his 1/4 of 53 enslaved persons and with a quarter part of 53/90ths of 7 enslaved persons born since amounting to £856 16s 8d.

T71/261: Benjamin Gumbs Hodge registered 5 enslaved persons as executor of Benjamin Gumbs in 183[3?].

Times 13/12/1832 p. 6: trial of Dr Hodge and Mr Boyle, for cruelty to enslaved persons. Hodge not guilty; Boyle not tried 'owing to his absence fom the island.' The famine was over by 1833, but enslaved were in distress again by 1840 (Times 27/10/1840 citing Cunningham, Lt-Gov of St Kitts' visit and the eye-witness account of a stipendiary magistrate.)
