Biography

  1. In 1832, Dr Benjamin Gimbs Hodge was tried (and found not guilty) of beating an enslaved woman, Charlotte, and marooning her on a small island for three weeks. He had apparently done this at the instigation of the magistrates of Road Division, who had found Charlotte guilty of misconduct.
