T71/1212: counterclaim from Elizabeth Hopwood, of Lower Grosvenor Street, London, a gentlewoman, for a £200 legacy under the will of her uncle Robert Cochran (dated January 1809). Anna Cochran, a widow and resident, was served with the counterclaim on 22/06/1835. Anna Cochran(e), nee Reddie, appears to have been a free person of colour, as was her husband George Cochrane (according to details of marriage settlement, dated 22/05/1822).
