T71/885: claim by Hugh Douglas, via his attorney, as owner-in-fee. Counterclaim from J., T., and A. Douglas, by virtue of a mortgage for £20173 10s 1d.
T71/1610: letter, dated 31/10/1835, from A. and D. Bannatyne, Writers, Glasgow, stating: 'a gentleman in Glasgow through his atty lodged a claim for plantation Good Hope ...#584, whilst some clients of ours in Glasgow through their atty lodged a Counterclaim as mortgagees. It is proposed that the latter should withdraw their Counterclaim and that the former should grant either to them or to some party in London for them, a power of attorney to draw the Compensation'. Goes on to enquire if this is possible.
