By 1851 he was at 11 Woodside Terrace, Barony, Lanarkshire, and by 1861 he was at Bridge of Allan, Logie, Perthshire. Born 05/11/1798 in Glasgow to Dugald Bannatyne, a Port (or Post?) Master and his wife Agnes née Stirling. Died at Milheugh, Blantyre, 11/06/1871 age 72. His brother Dugald John Bannatyne was also a writer.
