T71/1610: letter, dated 09/10/1835, from Baxendale Tatham, stating that Mr Mackenzie senior (now deceased) sold a moiety of the estate in 1828 to Spencer Mackay; the estate was then subject to a mortgage. In 1833, it was agreed that Spencer Mackay should receive the crops and all the compensation money to pay the mortgage money and indemnify his moiety of the estate therefrom. Goes on to ask: do we need to file a counterclaim?
T71/429 p. 318: A. MacRae registered 424 enslaved persons in 1832. No ownership information is given.
Times 19/11/1852 p. 8: shows sale by the devisees in trust under the will of Spencer Mackay of his half of Lusignan. The average annual net income of this moiety has exceeded £2000 per annum over the past five years.
