In 1826 Chancery suit against whom judgment was entered. The defendants were James Lawrence Hilton, James Phillips Utten, Mary Hilton, Elizabeth Ann Tucker, Eliza Tucker, John Dunbar Tucker. Complainants: Philip Protheroe and George Protheroe. Defendants required to pay £26,552 13 8d (Jamaican current) together with £1,825 interest and costs due to the complainants by 20 December 1825. Unless the defendants paid by 30 November 1826 the plantation was to be put up for sale to the highest bidder. The sale to include ‘slaves, cattle, stock, and appurtenances’. The sale subject to an Annuity of £280 currency per annum payable to Mrs Elizabeth Ann Tucker.
