Martha Dow née Byam, married to Archibald Dow, previous owner of enslaved persons in Antigua which she bequeathed to her sons William and Charles and her daughter Rebecca.
Martha Byam married Archibald Dow, St Philip, Antigua, 05/09/1776. They had at least four sons, including Charles (deceased by 1835) and William (born 1796) and at least 3 daughters, including Rebecca Mackenzie née Dow, Eliza Harman née Dow (died in 1817) and Grace (deceased by 1835). All her children q.v. except Eliza.
Rebecca Mackenzie stated in a letter to the Compensation Commission that she and her brother William each had a half share of the 11 enslaved persons left to them by their mother and that another son Charles had previously disposed of the enslaved persons he had inherited from her.
