1800 - 1868
Hon. Francis Baring, later 3rd Baron Ashburton, partner in Baring Brothers 1823-1864, counterclaimed unsuccessully with his partners as assignees for the compensation on Spring Garden in British Guiana but the firm intercepted successfully the compensation awarded on the estates of Wolfert Katz, a major debtor of the firm, in British Guiana.
Francis Baring (1800-1868), son of Alexander Baring, 1st Baron Ashburton, and Anne Bingham. Married Hortense, daughter of Duke of Bassano 1832. Partner in the firm between 1823 and 1864.
Educated Harrow School; MP Thetford 1830-1, 1832-41, 1848-57. Succeeded brother William, 2nd Baron Ashburton in 1862. Left £250,000.
