William Fowle of Chute

Awarded the compensation as owner-in-fee of the Wiltshire estate in St James Jamaica, which he inherited indirectly from his uncle, also William Fowle (q.v. under William Fowle of St James). Henry Fowle, the father of William Fowle of Chute, had been the residuary heir of William Fowle of St James, and had already settled one moiety of the Wiltshire estate on his son William before his death.

1. William Fowle [then of Durrington] married Miss Everett, eldest daughter of Thomas Everett MP of Bedford Square, in 1799. William Fowle bought the Chute Lodge estate in Wiltshire c. 1805, and devised it to his son Rev. Henry Fowle (d. 1865): it then passed to Henry Fowle's brother T.E. Fowle and in turn to T.E. Fowle's son W.H. Fowle, who sold Chute Lodge c. 1906.

2. William Fowle of Chute was High Sheriff of Wiltshire 1813. Will of William Fowle of Chute Lodge Wiltshire proved 01/08/1840; Will of William Fowle of St James, County of Cornwall, Island of Jamaica proved 04/05/1797. Montego Bay churchyard: monument to Wm Fowle Esq of Wiltshire Estate native of Charlton Co. Wilts who died 06/07/1796, monument erected by his nephew W. Fowle Esq of Durrington co. Wiltshire. There is in turn a memorial to William Fowle of Chute Lodge who died in 1840 and his wife who died in 1842 in the Church of St Nicholas, Chute, Wiltshire.

3. William Fowle son of Henry Fowle of Charlton Wiltshire matriculated St John's College Oxford 06/02/1788 aged 17 BA 1791, MA 1796.   William Fowle 1813 took out gamekeepers license for Wm Wyle for Chute Forest in Wiltshire, and a Game Certificate 1825.
