Biography

Born 09/04/1811 and baptised, with her brother Thomas, in Trelawny, 19/12/1812. Their parents were David McConnell and his wife Sarah nee Booth who had married in Trelawny 26/04/1808. Both parents had been married previously: David to [Mary] Ann nee Crew, with three daughters Mary Ann, Ann and Jean Holmes; Sarah to Henry Jackson, with three sons John Graves, Kembel Booth and Henry.

In her mother's will, proven 27/05/1815, guardians were appointed for Sarah Jane [Jean] and Thomas - John Mitchell, Jonathon Brown, Catherine Wilkings and Mary Jane Hawkins. The children inherited Recess estate in Trelawny. Their half-brother John Graves Jackson also acted as guardian.

Sarah Jane married John Alexander Hamilton 21/06/1843 in St Anne.
