Melmoth Turton Hall was baptised 13/11/1809 in St Andrew, Jamaica, the tenth of twelve children born to William Dennis Hall (1762-) and his wife Harriet nee Turton (1770-). He was a magistrate in Kingston in 1857.
William Dennis Hall was the son of William Hall (1731-1794), a sugar refiner and merchant, and his first wife Elizabeth nee Montgomery. He was also a great-grandson of William Melmoth the Elder (1665-1743) through his daughter Sophia Melmoth and Joseph Hall (who married 01/11/1729 in Fleet Street, London).
