John Johnston, assignee of Walter Brett of Kingston, Jamaica, under a deed dated 20/04/1825. His compensation was awarded to William Bruce Almon, Mather Byles Almon and his brothers James William Johnston and Lewis Johnston (all q.v.).
Born in Jamaica 31/01/1790. Educated in Scotland. Studied law in Kingston, Jamaica. Married Laura, daughter of William Stevenson, Attorney General of Jamaica, in 1823. Moved to Nova Scotia shortly after his marriage, where he practised law. Member of the Nova Scotia Assembly in 1826. Remarried following the death of Laura, to Mary Kelly. Died at Falmouth, England, 11/07/1836.
Possibly the same person as John Johnstone of Annapolis, Nova Scotia, who claimed compensation with Lewis Pacifico as a judgement creditor of Moses D'Aguilar.
