Counterclaimed unsuccessfully for the compensation for the enslaved people on Montpellier on Nevis as executor of his father Sir Thomas Stapleton 6th bart. and 22nd Baron le Despencer or Despenser (also confusingly known as the 12th Lord Despenser).
