Son of Richard Crewe of Jamaica, inherited a 1/3 share in Raymond's estate in Vere, Jamaica. The compensation was paid to Abel Smith and Earl Stanhope (both q.v.), trustees of his marriage settlement with Harriet Smith (q.v.).
John Frederick Crewe, son of Richard Crewe of Jamaica and his wife Milborough Allpress. On 28/06/1819 he married Harriet Smith, daughter of Robert Smith, 1st Baron Carrington, and 1st cousin once removed of William Wilberforce (1759-1833).
Captain John Frederick Crewe was transferred from half-pay 26th Regiment of Foot to 17th Regiment of Foot, 20/06/1820, and then became Lieutenant and Captain in the 3rd Regiment of Foot, 23/11/1820. Promoted to Lieutenant-Colonel of Infantry by purchase, 05/06/1827.
Lieut. Col. John Frederick Crewe of 63 Baker Street, Marylebone, was buried at Kensal Green All Souls Cemetery, 16/11/1840 age 52.
