Biography

Robert Walton was among the early purchasers of land in Tobago, buying Great River division (St Mary parish) Lots nos. 30 and 31 05/06/1770. He was still the Present Proprietor of the two Lots in 1773.

  1. A petition from Dr Robert Walton of Tobago was the subject of a letter to the Treasury Board 21/09/1779 in the William Hewitt papers. 'Dr Robert Walton' appears in the parish records in Barbados, e.g. on the birth of Robert, son of Dr Robert and Margaret Walton St Michael parish 09/07/1758 and a daughter Mary 31/07/1770. Robert Walton jr married Ann Luke widow in St Michael 02/06/1789: the son of Robert Walton and Ann his wife baptised 01/04/1794 in St Michael was Robert Baron Walton (q.v).
