Biography

Henry Rodon, co-owner of Frankfield and Crawle River estates par[ish] in Clarendon died 06/02/1835 aged 33. Son of George Rodon (q.v.). Identified in the will of Samuel Mitchell (q.v.) made in 1829 as a partner with Samuel and Rowland Mitchell in Lime Street as merchants trading to the West Indies.

  1. Will of Henry Rodon merchant of Lime Street [made in 1833] proved 13/07/1835. In the will he left his personal estate (except for his moiety of such 'stock and chattels' as might be on Crawle River and Frankfield in Jamaica) in trust (his trustees were Benjamin Caractacus Patey and his brother John Rodon of the City of London) to pay the income 1/4 to his sister Mary Mackenzie for life and then her children; 1/4 to his sister Susan [sic] Israell for life and then her children; 1/4 to his sister Ann McLean for life and then her children; and 1/4 to his sister Elizabeth Bryan for life and then her children. He left his moiety of Frankfield and Crawle River to his brother Francis Smith. In a codicil of 1833 he raised his legacies to his executors to £1000 to John Rodon and £500 to Patey, each charged half on Crawle River and half on Frankfield.
