Biography

One of the 'Commissioners of Munro and Dickensons Charity' awarded the compensation for Knockpatrick in Manchester and Grosmond Pen in St Elizabeth, both in Jamaica, and almost certainly the same man as the William Ridgard who as co-trustee for the Forster famly was awarded the compensation with others for the Bogue estate in St Elizabeth.

  1. Will of William Ridgard [formerly of Gainsbro County of Lincoln] Saint Elizabeth Jamaica proved 09/03/1844. He left his estate named Gainsbro formerly Launcewood to his eight children with Mary Morais, as well as his bookcase and his books for their use and instruction. He left his sister Elizabeth Ridgard £80 and another sister Ann Massie and nieces and nepehews several legacies of £25-35. His executors were his nephew Joseph Massie of Barnsley County of York, Samuel Ridgard Massie and George Daly of St Elizabeth. In a note he explained that he and Duncan Robertson had been joint attorneys for so long that their concerns might clash, and therefore he though it better not to make Robertson an executor. In a final note, he said: 'I should wish some of my little family trifles to be sent home to my relatives as a remembrance.'
