???? - 1831
Owner of Springfield in Westmoreland, and mortgagee of Orange Cove estate in Hanover, Jamaica. He married Mary Waite in Jamaica in 1793, and was buried at Walton-on-the-Hill in 1831; one of his executors was his son Raynes Waite Appleton (q.v.). He was possibly the Appleton of Watson + Appleton, slave-factors at Montego Bay for several voyages between 1795 and 1807: George Watson and William Appleton were linked as the executors of another Jamaica slave-factor, Ralph Parkinson (q.v.).
