Biography

Husband of Lady Jane Tollemache, father of Admiral John Richard Delap Tollemache (ne Halliday) and grandfather of John Tollemache ne Halliday (both of whom q.v.).

  1. Will of John Delap Halliday of Queen Ann Street, Cavendish Square proved 09/09/1794. In the will he left an annuity of £1200 pa. to his widow Lady Jane Halliday and annuities of £500 p.a. each to his younger sons William Augustus Halliday and Francis Alexander Halliday, in both cases to be commuted to a £10,000 lump sum on their majorities at 21. He left his estates in St Christopher and Antigua subject to these annuities to his eldest son John Richard Delap Halliday.

  2. Of his younger sons, William Augustus Halliday of the Queens Regiment of Foot died aged 31 at Hill House Surrey in 1805; and Francis Alexander Halliday, a Royal Navy officer, died c. 1830. To date no will has been found for either man.
