18th Mar 1809 - 8th Feb 1900
Wife of Robert Haynes jun. 13 enslaved persons were passed to Robert Haynes on their marriage: see return of 1826 for the Clifton Hall estate.
Elizabeth Reece, daughter of Robert Reece and Sarah Knight, was born 18/03/1809 and baptised in St James, Barbados, 16/04/1809. Robert Reece married Sarah Knight 26/09/1805 in St Peter, Barbados.
Censuses from 1841 show Robert Haynes (born c. 1795) and Elizabeth Haynes (born c. 1809) at Haymarket Sheffield (1841) and then at Thimbleby Lodge. Given in 1841 two women who were probably daughters of Robert Haynes are shown living with him aged 20 and 22, and that in 1861 the household included both Elizabeth aged 52 and a daughter Jane aged 40, it is likely that Elizabeth was his second wife. Living at 88 Bootham, York, in 1881 after the death of her husband. At The Hall (Bent), Patrick Brompton in 1891 in the household of her son Jonathan W. Haynes.
Elisabeth Haynes of Patrick Brompton, Yorkshire, widow, died 08/02/1900. Probate granted at York 09/05/1900 to Frederick Hutchinson Haynes, lieutenant-colonel and staff-paymaster in the army-payment-department and Henry Haynes, estate agent. Effects £950 7s.
