Biography

Jennet Guthrie was the daughter and co-heiress of James Guthrie of Westmoreland who died in 1728. Jennet married John Hynes of Westmoreland and had a daughter Helen. She married, secondly, Francis Sadler (later Sadler Hals) of Montpelier estate, St James. She inherited Halse Hall on the death of her second husband in 1753 and was buried at Halse Hall, 11/09/1775. She outlived her daughters and Halse Hall was passed to her son-in-law Thomas Beach.

Total value of estate at probate: £2382.63 Jamaican currency of which £1700 currency was the value of enslaved people. Estate valuation included £0 currency cash, £0 currency debts and £100 currency plate.

The will of Janett Sadler Hals of St. Catherine, Widow was proved in Jamaica 28/09/1775.
