Biography
Created 1st Baronet Gibbons on 21 April 1752. Speaker for the Barbados House of Assembly 1742-1760. Married Frances Hall, daughter of Robert Hall of Barbados.
- Will of Sir William Gibbons of St Peter island of Barbados [made in 1759] proved 13/02/1766. In the will he left his grandson Scawen Kenrick Gibbons £10,000 currency at 21, and £3000 each to his granddaughters Frances, Elizabeth Hannah and Martha Gibbons [given in his son's will as Fanny Elizabeth, Hannah and Martha]. His residuary heir was his son John Gibbons. He explained that he had made no provision for two other grandsons on the basis that John Gibbons had assured him that he [John Gibbons] had provided for them in his own will.
