Son of Sir John Gibbons, 2nd Bt. and Martha Kenrick. He married Rebecca Watson, daughter of Vice-Admiral Sir Charles Watson, on 3 September 1771. He died on 26 November 1814.
Succeeded to the title of 3rd Baronet Gibbons, of Stanwell Place, Middlesex on 9 July 1776 on the death of his father. Graduated with a Doctor of Law (LL.D.).
Children of Sir John and Rebecca Gibbons: 4 daughters (names not known); Sir John Gibbons, 4th Bt. (8 January 1774-26 March 1844); Commander William Gibbons (1775-21 October 1860); George Gibbons (1776-16 May 1811); Edward Gibbons (1777-1835).
