Bristol merchant, partner with John Maxse and John Longmore 1803-1806 and then with John Longmore in 1813. John Vaughan and Longmore were assigned a mortgage on the Colchis estate in 1817. It is not yet confirmed that the late John Vaughan who appears in the compensation records in connection with Philip Vaughan (q.v., described as the successor to, or surviving partner of, John Vaughan & Co.) is the same man or a descendant. No will or probate for John Vaughan has yet been found.
