William Reynolds the eldest of Milford House

Will of William Reynolds of Milford Hampshire [made in 1780] proved 28/04/1780. In the will he left his freehold townhouse in Huntingdon to his son-in-law Wm Heywood; he left his other property including the Catherine Mount and Torbay estates in Jamaica and the enslaved people on them in trust to secure an annuity to his eldest son Joseph rising from £100 to £200 p.a. (later he forbade Joseph to assign his annuity); £50 p.a. to his sister Federata Rossiter and her assigns; £25 p.a. each to another sister and two nieces; and £20 p.a. to Mrs Jane Rogers, the latter contingent on her renouncing any claim to Reynolds' estate. The will entailed the Milford estate and, subject to the annuities, the Jamaica estates to William Reynolds' second son Edmund. William Reynolds also left monetary legacies to his daughters Elizabeth Heywood and Sarah Reynolds.

Total value of estate at probate: £24753.83 Jamaican currency of which £9709 currency was the value of enslaved people. Estate valuation included £0 currency cash, £12351.98 currency debts and £0 currency plate.
