Biography

  1. Will of Robert Seaman [late of the island of Dominica but now of Hounslow in the parish] of Isleworth [made in 1816] proved 22/03/1821. In the will he left his estate and enslaved people in Dominica, his house at Isleworth, the three houses he had recently built at Hounslow occupied by Mr Thomas Rogers, Mr Lepipre and Miss Lepipre, leasehold property in Blackfriars let to Mr Rowntree, and money he had advanced in trade with the late Mr Thomas Whitby and his son Mr Thomas John Whitby of Red Lion Wharf, Upper Thames Street London as coal merchants, in trust (his trustees included his daughter Mrs Sarah Hesketh widow), to fund monetary legacies totalling £6000 to his brother and his nieces and nephews, with the remainder to Sarah Hesketh and her children. In a codicil dated 22/03/1819, he said he had contracted to sell the Great Capuchin estate on Dominica together with the enslaved people on it to James Potter Lockahrt for £4000.
