???? - 1859
Online genealogical sources show that there were two men named Thomas James Bernards active in Jamaica at this time: Thomas James Bernard (1796-1850), the son of Thomas David Bernard; and Thomas James Bernard (1797-1859), son of David Bernard and Judith Bowen. These notes are for Thomas James Bernard (1797-1859). The associations are tentative as it is not always possible to distinguish one from the other when they were both operating in the same parish.
Baptised 25/05/1797 in St James, son of David Bernard and Judith Bernard. Married Anne Clarke [surname unknown] at some point before 1823. Seven children baptised in St James to this couple: David (1823-), Thomas James (1825-), Judith Frances (1825-), Rebecca Wilhelmina (1827-), Catharine Gordon (1828-), William Edward (1833-).
Administration of the will of Thomas James Bernard late of Montego Bay who died 15/09/1859 granted to Rev. Samuel Edward Bernard for use of Catherine Elizabeth Bernard now residing at Montego Bay, the relict of Montague James Bernard the son and only next of kin, effects under £800.
