The second of four daughters of George Leslie, a merchant in Aberdeen, and his wife Katharine nee Irvine. The daughters were the heirs of their maternal uncle Dr Charles Irvine who co-owned Friendship estate in St Thomas-in-the-East, Jamaica. Not married at the time Charles Irvine wrote his will in 1790. No will has been found for Ann Leslie.
