Born 10/05/1821 in Jamaica, the reputed daughter of James Corne Pownall by "free mulatto" Sarah Watt. Inherited a share in Silver Hill estate in St Andrew, Jamaica, in trust with her six siblings and six of her first cousins, on the death of his father in 1824. Her father's will stipulated that his daughters would forfeit their inheritance if any of them returned to Jamaica unless with husbands.
Living with her brother James Pownall and his wife at Curzon Street, Calne, Wiltshire, in the census of 1841. With her sister Sarah at 5 Ainslies Belvidere, Walcott, Bath, in 1851. At Living at 9 Windsor Terrace, Bristol, in 1861, with her sister Mary Ann Britton nee Pownall and family. No death has been found for Isabella Pownall.
