Son of London West India merchant Samuel Turner (1745-1815) and Anne Athill, daughter of Dr John Athill (Samuel Turner and Anne Athill married St John's Church Antigua 24/07/1770). Brothers include Dr Thomas Turner (1773-1865); Samuel Turner (1776-1847) and John Hayward Turner (q.v.). Charles Turner himself was a West India merchant of London and Liverpool.
In 1831 he assigned his assets to his brother John Hayward Turner, Hardman Earle and Richard Heywood for the benefit of his creditors. To date no will or probate has been found for him.
In 1851 Charles Turner aged 73 retired West India merchant born Middlesex was living at 21 South Hill Place Toxteth Park with daughter Anne aged 40 born Liverpool. He had married 13/01/1804 at St Marylebone Maria or Mary Athill (1781-1841), daughter of Samuel Byam Athill and Mary Lynch.
The Rev. Edward Tindal Turner (1822-1911), the son of Charles Turner and Maria Athill, became the Registrar of Oxford University.
