Daughter of Ralph Gilroy of Gainslaw, she inherited a half-share in Berwick estate in Port Royal, Jamaica, upon his death in 1826. Sister of Mary Ann Howey (q.v.), she married Matthew Marshall (q.v.) in 1829 and is a widow by the census of 1851.
Born c. 1808 in Jamaica. Parents Ralph Gilroy of Gainslaw, coffee planter, and Annie Silburn. Married Matthew Marshall in Eglingham, Northumberland, 07/04/1829. A widow by the census of 1851 when she is visiting her younger sister Mary Ann Howey (q.v.) at Bridge Castle, Torphichen, West Lothian, her occupation given as "Annuitant". Informant and present for the death of her sister Mary Ann Howey in Edinburgh in 1867.
The will of Ralph Gilroy of Gainslaw House (proved at London 09/08/1826 and then at Durham in 1828) is held at the Archives and Special Collections section of Durham University Library.
