John Wood Nelson baptised 31/10/1770 ('born 1st inst.') at St Marylebone, son of John and Mary. Married Mary Porter 24/11/1798 at St Mary Rotherhithe.
Will of John Wood Nelson merchant of [Mecklenburgh Square] St Pancras [and late of Hyde Park Gardens but at Stoke Damerell Devon [made 05/01/1836] proved 12/12/1844. In the will he said that 'whereas from the present unsettled and uncertain state of affairs in the West Indies it is impossible for me to make any specific arrangement of my property' he left all his estate to his wife Mary Porter Nelson [his sole executrix] to make every suitable provision for my [sic] two sons, and asked that the certain annual allowance he made for to Mrs Elizabeth Milburn be continued. [He added in a codicil that he had given to his wife a box of 'securities': the attestation showed the box contained £10,500 in two hundred 'Dutch bonds'].
