In his will proved 1820 Joseph Russell left 'To Miss Bathia [=Bathsua?] Vernon, daughter of James Baillie Vernon late of Manchester Esquire, my late neighbour and friend, £1,000 sterling., to be raised from my estate at the perfect discretion of my executors in Great Britain. Interest of 5 per cent to be paid to her in the meantime.' |
