Life at LMCB
The LMCB is a collaborative, vibrant and international research institute. The map below plots in red our diverse nationalities.
Interactions and collaborations are encouraged both within and beyond science. Social events include:
- Monthly themed cocktail events
- Celebratory gatherings to mark important scientific achievements
- Christmas parties
- Social and wellness clubs, including running, yoga, football, netball, yarn and board games.
In addition, all LMCB staff have access to UCL staff benefits, professional development opportunities and recreational facilities (including gyms, theatre, lunch-time lectures and concerts, cycling schemes).
The LMCB’s location in the centre of London provides its staff the opportunity to explore the best cultural and social events that make London a vibrant and multicultural city.
The LMCB is strongly committed to maintaining a healthy work-life balance, and supports and encourages all who work here. It has a dedicated Equality, Diversity & Inclusion Committee, whose remit includes promoting the values of the Athena Swan Charter within the institute. In recognition of the level of excellence at which the LMCB embraces this commitment, it received the Athena Swan Gold Award in 2016 and renewed the Award in 2020.
