Baillie versus Innes and Baillie versus Palmer.
T71/880: claim by John Wells, as receiver. Counterclaims from (eg.) Janet Higgins, in Albemarle St. (widow of Matthew Higgins), as the assignee of a legacy under the will of James Baillie; Sir John Maxwell Tylden, of Milsted, Kent, and Sir George Young, of Formosa Place, Buckinghamshire, as trustees for parties interested under the marriage settlement of Miss Colin Campbell Baillie.
Colin Campbell Baillie (q.v.) had married Edward Lloyd in London in 1816. She was presumably the daughter of Miss Colin Campbell, who married James Baillie in Grenada 26/04/1772 (Midlothian: Edinburgh Register of Marriages, 1751-1800 Volume 5. The Register of Marriages. (Marriage). T71/1609: letter, dated 23/02/1836, from H.J. Baillie, Stone Buildings, asking how much was paid to his brother Alex Baillie, and the time of payment.
Times 16/07/1842 p. 6: reference to Baillie versus Innes as 'one of the numerous proceedings arising out of the failure of Mr Innes, who was formerly in partnership with Mr Nathaniel Winter as West India merchants'.
