T71/895: claim by John Buhott. Counterclaim by William Henry Layton, of Fulham; Wm. Burley, of Lincoln's Inn; Richard Marriott, of Abbotts Hall, Essex; and Henry Edward Beville, of the 5th Dragoon guards, all as trustees under a settlement dated 26/07/1835. T71/1306 refers to a settlement of 26/07/1825 in order to discharge the Estate tail of Maria Charlotte Sperling and all remaindermen thereon expectant in the said one-fourth part. George Sperling and Maria Charlotte (his wife) were beneficially interested, under the above settlement, in one-fourth of the compensation money of one enslaved person. The agents were J. W. B. Romley, of 1 South Sq., Gray's Inn. Counterclaim from Charles Walton, of Haverhill, and Mary Ann (his wife), who were interested under a settlement of 08/01/1772. 3/4 of the compensation (i.e. £29 2s 6d) went to Sperling et al; 1/4 went to Mary Ann Walton.
