1793 - 1863
Daughter of Ellys Anderson Stephens, and sister of Frances Layton, Maria Charlotte Sperling and Sophia Lucy Marriott (all of whom q.v.). Mary Ann Walton counterclaimed with her husband Charles Walton of Haverhill Essex on a number of awards in Barbados, including Byde Mill. She appears to have a claim on a different basis than her sisters, counterclaiming separately: it is assumed the claims were settled amicably.
Death at Westbourne Place, Eaton Square of Mary Ann Walton, aged 70, relect of Major Charles Walton of the 4th light Dragoons and eldest daughter of the late Ellys Anderson Stephens of Bower Hall, Steeple Bumpstead, Essex.
For the break-up of Mary Ann Walton's estate, including the sale of parts of the Byde Mill House plantation, Barbados, see the various deeds, probate papers and other legal documents (1845-1890) in the Essex Record Office.
T71/895 Barbados claim no. 555B; T71/897 Barbados claim no. 2135A; T71/899 Barbados claim no. 3777 (Byde Mill).
