4th Jul 1838 | 145 Enslaved | £6561 15s 2d
Not listed in Parliamentary Papers. NB the 1813 Slave Register shows Laurence Nihell rather than Michell.
T71/894: claim by Catherine A. Michell [sic, = Nihell], counterclaim by Sir Thos. Neave. Counterclaim also from Bogles of Glasgow (survivors of firm of James Bogle of Glasgow, see T71/1274).
There is some ambiguity as to whether this went to the Court of Chancery (as Neave vs Michell or Nihell) or was adjudged to Bogle and William Hamilton.
T71/519 p 2274: enslaved persons registered by John Parsons as manager for the heirs of Lawrence Nihell.
T71/1274: includes a note dated 12/7/1838 from Dunn Wordsworth & Dunn saying Neave would not appeal to the Privy Council.
