Notes |
There appears to have been several changes of name of the estate, variously known as Grettons, Foul (or Fowl) Bay and Oldbury. In 1763 the Hon. and Rev. Robert Brathwaite married Mehitabel Gretton, daughter of the Hon. Maj. Gen. Enoch Gretton, who gave his daughter £5,000 as her marriage portion secured on the Foul Bay plantation in St. Philip. Mehitabel Brathwaite inherited the plantation. In 1792 the Rev. Robert Brathwaite died. In 1793 Robert Gretton Brathwaite, one of the 6 children of the Rev. Robert Brathwaite and his wife Mehitabel Brathwaite claimed his share of the £5,000 marriage portion of his mother. He was paid £834. |
