Duncan Forbes Sutherland, son of George Sackville Sutherland and his wife Jean Mackay, was born at Uppat and baptised 17/11/1801. Marriage of Duncan Forbes Sutherland and Lucy Campbell Hackshaw (the daughter of Harry Hackshaw (q.v.)) 08/10/1836 at St Mary Bryanston Square. Death of Duncan Forbes Sutherland registered Q1 1846 Kensington. Burial of Duncan Forbes Sutherland of 6 High Street Notting Hill Kensington at All Souls Kensal Green 01/02/1846 aged 47. Genealogical sources give his date of birth as 1801. No will has yet been found for him.
Duncan Forbes Sutherland's widow Lucy Campbell nee Hackshaw (c. 1817-1907) married as her second husband [Sir] John Hall, the Deputy Inspector-General of Army Hospitals, in Cape Town 31/10/1848. At that time, Duncan Forbes Sutherland was described as of Sion Lodge and of the Rivulet, St Vincent.
Duncan F. Sutherland of St Vincent was listed as a subscriber to Charles Shephard's An Historical Account of the Island of Saint Vincent, published in 1832.
