Rev. John Campbell Shaw

Counter-claimed successfully with his siblings Elizabeth Brodie (q.v.), Fanny Shaw (q.v.) and Sarah Shaw (who died c. 1835), all children of Dr David Shaw and Henrietta Campbell, against Alexander Hamilton Shaw (their brother) for compensation on Bishops Mount in St Mary, Jamaica. Married Rebecca Saul at Holme Cultram, Cumberland, 1823.

1. Instituted to Ennerdale 24/5/1831 and buried there (having died in post) 28/4/1847 aged 45. He was ordained Deacon of Dearham, Cumbria in 1828 and Priest (remaining at Dearham) 1829. He left Dearham in December 1830 and move to Ennerdale, where he remained until his death aged 45 in 1847.

The CCEd [database online] carries two entries for John Campbell Shaw, both as curate of Dearham (Cumberland) 05/07/1828, with no further biographical information [CCEd Persons IDs 6056 and 6303].

Claire Brodie does not have John Campbell Shaw among the children (http://trees.ancestry.co.uk/tree/18789077/person/719683946 [accessed 09/06/2011]) but he appears with a date of birth in 1802 on another genealogy site http://boards.ancestry.com/thread.aspx?mv=flat&m=6765&p=surnames.shaw [accessed 09/06/2011], which also gives him as Curate of Ennerdale and marrying the Quaker Rebecca Saul.
