Husband of Elizabeth Brodie, née Shaw (q.v.), a co-heir with her siblings Sarah and Fanny to the Bishop's Mount estate in St Mary Jamaica, with whom the Brodies counterclaimed against their brother Alexander Hamilton Shaw.

John Buchan Brodie Esqr WS St Andrews Parish and Elizabeth Tucker Shaw of St George's Parish Daughter of the late Dr David Shaw Jamaica That the partes [sic] were lawfully married 14 August last Certified by the parties in the presence of Charles Oliphant Esqr WS + Alexr Hamilton Shaw Merchant Leith and Brother to the Bride. Saind by the parties and the said Charles Oliphant + Alexr Hamilton Shaw."
