Biography

Baptised in St Lucy, Barbados, 15/09/1776, daughter of Samuel Rock and his wife Mary. Married Abel Hinds in St Lucy in 1793. Son Samuel born in 1793 and daughter Mary Jane born in 1796; both baptised in St Lucy in 1798. Remarried, as a widow, to Conrade Adams Howell in St Thomas, Barbados, December 1807.
In 1841 Elizabeth Howell, age 65, of independent means, was living with her son Samuel Hinds (q.v.) and daughters Agnes Howell (q.v.) and Jane Howell at the Vicarage in Yardley, Hertfordshire. In 1851 Elizabeth Thornhill Howell aged 75 born Barbados was living with her son Hinds Howell (q.v.) and his family at Rectory House, Bridestowe, Devon, and with her daughters Agnes (35) and Jane (32), both born Barbados.
Death "On Wednesday last at the Palace, Norwich, aged 76, Mrs. Howell, mother of the Right Reverend the Lord Bishop of Norwich."
