[Name] Luckey Hill
One moity of the estate sold by Robert Dalzell to John Jacques, James Laing and Humphrey Ewing. Will of Robert Dalzell of Wokingham, County of Berks., proved 01/09/1821. The will opens with a recitation that under the will of his father (Gibson Dalzell) dated 03/03/1755, Robert had inherited as tenant-for-life a moiety of the estate called Luckey [sic] Hill in Jamaica, with remainder to his children in whatever proportion he decided. In 1800 he and his children had agreed to sell the moiety to John Jacques, James Laing and Humphrey Ewing of Jamaica for £4500 currency (£3217 sterling): under the original trust, he divided the proceeds (which had been invested in 3% consols) between his children, with only £50 to his son and his daughter Henrietta, who was already 'amply provided for.'
